TOWN OF GREENWICH
At the Representative Town Meeting of the Town of Greenwich to be held in the Moderator’s Hall of Central Middle School on Monday, October 27, 2003 at 8:00 P.M.(E.S.T.) the following additional item will be considered and the Moderator has waived the five days notice because of the time constraints involved.
7. To consider and act upon the following resolution, requested by Comptroller and pending approval by the Board of Estimate and Taxation.
RESOLVED, that in accordance with Article 18, Section 301 of the Greenwich Town Charter, the salary of the Town Clerk shall be $74,200 for the period January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2004 and $76,612 for the period January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2005.

EXPLANATORY COMMENTS
The Board of Estimate and Taxation will be voting on this item at their October 20, 2003 meeting. Section 301 of the town charter reads ‘The Town Clerk shall receive such compensation for the performance of his duties as the Board of Estimate and Taxation of the town may fix, subject to the approval of the Representative Town Meeting. Such salary shall be in lieu of all fees and other compensation.’
The cost for this increase in fiscal 2003-04 is approximately $2,100. No appropriation is being requested for this increase in 2003-04. The recommended increase for January 1, 2004 is approximately 6% over the 2003 salary. The recommended increase for January 1, 2005 is approximately 3.25%. The reason for the 6% increase in 2004 is to bring the Town Clerk’s salary back into parity with the Tax Collector’s salary as it had been in 1999 and 2000.
